About
Therapy
Taking care of ourselves is one of the first steps
to living a more fulfilling life on every level. When
we don't take care of ourselves, it can negatively
affect our emotional and physical health, our spiritual
wellbeing, and our relationships. Over time this can
lead to depression, anxiety, anger, relationship conflict,
and overall dissatisfaction with life.
You may already be in the process of embarking on
this journey of self discovery or have just begun
to look inwards. Either way, I can help you start
from where you are at. People often turn to therapy
during times of questioning things in your life or
feeling that something just doesn't feel right. Therapy
is a way to help develop and access the part of you
that has the answer.
Through the process of therapy you can reconnect with
your true self or perhaps make this connection for
the very first time. This process of looking inward
often brings you in touch with your deepest emotions.
These emotions can be explored, experienced and understood
in a safe environment through psychotherapy. I see
my role as a supportive and nonjudgmental. I conduct
therapy that encourages sharing of emotional experienced
which will relieve suffering, create empowerment,
and facilitate change.
By listening to your unique story and getting to know
you as a whole person, I can serve as an objective
observer, pointing out patterns of thought, behavior
and emotion. In this collaborative manner I will help
you to gain awareness and insight into maladaptive
patterns that are keeping you stuck and away from
the life you want to live.
I take an active role in the process, offering insights
into patterns noticed and helping you to uncover the
root causes of your distress. This will allow you
to identify what needs to be dealt with, and as your
therapist I can help you navigate through this process.
I will also help you to develop and increase more
effective ways of dealing with your current problems.
Sometimes problems may be exacerbated by an underlying
mood disorder or anxiety disorder. I have extensive
experience in assessment and diagnosis of mental health
conditions. For some, treatment may include medications
prescribed by a psychiatrist. I will work closely
with your psychiatrist to provide a thoughtful, collaborative
treatment plan. If at any time during treatment you
are interested in a medication evaluation, I will
help you find a doctor that fits your needs. I work
with several psychiatrists in the community and am
happy to provide referrals.
